We will begin this part of
the Camino by descending through rocky terrains, small and authentic villages, towards
Monterredondo, accompanied by overwhelming panoramic views and exuberant nature until the final stop in
Cortegada.
Section 1: Castro Leborereiro (Portugal) - Monterredondo

From
Castro Leboreiro,
Portelinha and
Alcobaça we will cross to Galicia (Spain) in a place called
Azoreira in the municipality of
Padrenda. From there we will take the paved way between walls until we reach the village of
Lapela. Then we continue downhill along the asphalt road to
Monterredondo, with its remarkable parish church
.
Section 2: Monterredondo - Crespos

- Estimated time: 0 h. 43 min.
We take the asphalt road and leave the village. Then we turn left into an unpaved path leading uphill. It will take us to the chapel of
St Michael, from where we will start descending towards another chapel – the chapel of St Amaro, the patron of walkers and pilgrims, whose role is to help and cure their ailments.
Section 3: Crespos - Lordelo

- Difficulty: Medium-High
- Estimated time: 0 h. 52 min.
We start by going uphill. The trail will take us to the chapel of
Virxe da Portela, (the Virgin of Portela), where we will find the cross of the order of Saint John of Jerusalem. Following a dirt road we will reach the village of
Lordelo with its chapel dedicated to
St Isabel.
Section 4: Lordelo - Trado
- Length: 4,90 Km.
- Difficulty: Medium-High
- Estimated time: 1 h. 4 min.
As we continue along the route consisting of a partially paved and partially unpaved path, we will reach a strategic point on our way: the church
La iglesia del Condado, which used to host a hospital, according to old documents. At this point our route joins the main route of Camino, which comes from Monção and Melgaço (Portugal).
Leaving the village behind, the path will take us towards
A Carreira along paved and unpaved roads, until a small village
A Espiña, with a wayside shrine at one of the crossroads. This is where we leave the municipality of
Padrenda and enter
Pontedeva. From the village of
A Espiña, we walk along the road number
OU-801 – OU-193 until we reach the
Trado industrial park, from which point we will descend along a dirt road to the village of
Trado.
Section 5: Trado - Vilanova da Barca
- Length: 4,5 Km.
- Difficulty: Medium-High
- Estimated time: 0 h. 52 min.
We will walk through the oldest part of
Trado, reaching its parish church. From there we will descend along a dirt road, with some paved parts, to
Ponte Trado – a historical bridge, which suffered numerous reforms. After crossing the bridge we turn left, which will take us to a path along the river Deva until a crossing. We take the crossing and continue along the dirt road, which will take us to the village of
Vilanova da Barca.
Section 6: Vilanova da Barca - Cortegada
- Length: 3,3 Km.
- Difficulty: Medium-High
- Estimated time: 0 h. 49 min.
We will follow the asphalt road and then turn left into a dirt road until we reach the new
Balneario de Cortegada (Cortegada Health Resort). From there we will walk to the centre of the town, past a church, which holds a wooden statue of St James the Pilgrim.
